Instructions

Step 1:

Create a new file in Visual Studio Code. Save the file as "aboutme.html" in your home directory (Hsmile.

NOTE: On the web, we often avoid spaces and capitalization in file names.

Step 2:

Create a web page that says something about you. Your page should have:

  • Proper HTML5 syntax (browser declaration, html, head, title, body)
  • Headings (H1)
  • Sub-headings (H2, H3, H4, H5, or H6)
  • Paragraphs (P)
  • Bold text (STRONG)
  • Italic text (EM)

Your page should be organized into subtopics. For example:

  • My hobbies and interests
  • My family and pets
  • My future plans
  • Or, other topics about you

Be sure to only include things you are comfortable sharing with others.

Step 3:

Save your file frequently.

Use the W3C Web Validator so your code will pass validation. This won't catch all errors, but it is a good start.

Extensions:

Create a new folder and move your webpage into that folder.

Add a few of these to your page to give it more visual interest and interactivity. You may need to do a little bit of review or research to get these to work.

  • Images (hobbies, pets, etc)
  • Lists (use HTML to organize things with bullets or numbers)
  • Links (favorite websites, school and work sites, etc)
